Release

Energy moving in slow, quiet waves

Gentle hands on a body

A release it craves

Throat tightening at midnight

Waking from a dream

Gasping for air

Forgetting how to breathe

Rising from bed

Writing without pause

Speaking for the throat

Clenching in the jaw

Crying and writing

Writing and crying

Decades of holding

Years of silencing

Layers of judgment

Reserves of shame

Locked and stored

With more of the same

Energy moving in slow, quiet waves

A body ready

A release it craves

Beginning on a table in a dimly lit room

Gentle hands on a neck

Ready for a break through

Ending on a dark and carpeted bedroom floor

Crying and writing

Until there was nothing more

The body holds what the mind tries to ignore
